5 Questions for Cycling Friend Chantal Lawrence 1. What do you do for a living?  I work as a Junior Account Manager for NYC Business Solutions, Brooklyn Center in Downtown Brooklyn. NYC Business Solutions provides a set of services (i.e. business courses, financial and legal assistance) to help persons who wish to start a small business in New York City. I manage the business courses that are offered by the center and also teach a course titled ‘10 Steps to Starting Your Own Business’.  2. Where is your favorite destination for a bicycle ride?  I have many favorites, but I enjoy riding to the beach by Fort Tilden in Far Rockaway. During the summer, I love being near water!  3. Does your bike have a story?  My bicycle is a Linus Dutchi 8. Her name is Lucy and I bought her almost a year ago as a birthday present to myself. After testing many different bicycles and having made the decision to own a Linus, I was determined to purchase my Linus Dutchi from a Brooklyn-based bicycle shop and chose Ride Brooklyn in Park Slope. Ride Brooklyn is a great shop and they worked with NYC Business Solutions in the launch of their business. Lucy has participated in the 2012 TD 5 Boro Bike Tour, 2012 Tour de Staten Island, 2012 Tour de Brooklyn, and recently the 2012 Tour de Queens. Lucy’s next adventure will be the Brooklyn Waterfront Epic Ride on July 28th. 4. What is your favorite restaurant in NYC? My favorite restaurant is the Farm on Adderley in Ditmas Park, Flatbush. I love going there for Sunday brunch with my stepfather and it is a quick 10-minute bike ride from my apartment. I was born and raised in Ditmas Park and I do my best to support Flatbush-based restaurants.  5. Who is someone you admire? The person I admire most is my late mother Dasmie, who passed away when I was 16. My mom taught me to always be curious, ask questions and to learn something new everyday. I also admire my ‘dads’ Errol (my father) and Charles (my stepfather), they taught me that to set one’s path in life, one must work smarter, not harder.
